Rapid City, SD — June 12, 2020 — It is with much dismay that we, the BHPWA Board of Directors, formally announce the postponement of this year’s 34th Annual He Sapa Wacipi Na Oskate scheduled for October 9-11, 2020 at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center. We believe it is of the utmost importance to keep our dancers, singers, and powwow community safe in these troubling times. In addition, the He Sapa Wacipi relies solely on the generosity of financial donations and sponsors and we understand COVID-19 has had quite a significant negative financial impact on many of them. For these reasons, we believe it is our responsibility to remain respectful to everyone who supports our celebration to postpone until next year. During this time, please be assured that we will be planning and organizing the most amazing powwow the Black Hills and our ancestors has ever seen! The dates for 2021 will be October 8-10, 2021.Thank you for all your support and we look forward to celebrating next year!
