ADA & Accessibility Information

The Rushmore Plaza Civic Center has made a firm commitment to provide each guest with an enjoyable atmosphere in a clean and safe surrounding, making each patron’s visit here a positive experience.

The Rushmore Plaza Civic Center is wheelchair accessible and accommodating for patrons who have limited mobility or are blind, visually impaired, deaf, or hard of hearing. For more information about Disabled Seating, please call the Rushmore Plaza Box Office Manager at 605.394.4115.

Mobility Device & Wheel Chair Accessible Seating

Guests who use mobility devices (such as but not limited to wheelchairs, either manually operated or power driven, walkers etc.) will find seating at the in different locations depending on the venue. The seats in these sections can easily be removed or adjusted if needed by one of our Guest Services staff and will leave enough space for guests to sit with or remain in their mobility devices.

Guests requiring accessible seating may purchase an accessible seat along with companion seats in the same row as the accessible seat, provided that those seats are available at the time of purchase. The Rushmore Plaza Civic Center is committed to working with patrons on a case-by-case basis to adequately accommodate individual needs.

All ticket sales and exchanges are on a first-come/call, first, serve basis and will depend on ticket availability. There is no guarantee that any companion tickets will remain unsold and available. Please contact the Box Office Managment at 605.394.4115 or by email with further questions.

Purchase Mobility Device & Wheelchair Accessible Seating

Tickets can also be purchased in person at our Box Office during their hours of operation, Monday-Friday from 10:00am-5:00pm and during events. Identified accessible seats are available in the Barnett Arena, the Ice Arena, and the Fine Arts Theatre.

It is important to indicate that you require accessible seating so that we may properly accommodate you.

Assistive Listening Devices

Assistive Listening Devices (ALD) are available for most events from the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center Event Staff, please ask about them when entering the event or make arrangments prior to by contacting our Administrative Offices at 605.394.4115.

Interpretive Services

The Rushmore Plaza Civic Center will arrange for interpretive services, if notified at the time of purchase, for select concerts and family shows. Interpretive services are not guaranteed for every event; however, we will make every effort to accommodate each request with appropriate advance notice, at least two (2) weeks prior to the event.

Service Animals/Guide Dogs

Service animals are defined as dogs that are individually trained to do work or perform tasks for people with disabilities.

Under the ADA, service animals must be harnessed, leashed, or tethered, unless these devices interfere with the service animal’s work or the individual’s disability prevents using these devices. In that case, the individual must maintain control of the animal through voice, signal, or other effective controls.

Guests bringing in service animals may request accessible seating however cannot occupy additional seats unless a ticket has been purchased for the adjacent seat.

Elevators

Assistance is available for any guests with disabilities who need access to the Second Level in all of our venues. To request assistance, please ask one of our Event Staff.
